Skopelos (located between Skiathos and Alonissos islands) is a beautiful, must visit island, where cool shady pine woods run into golden beaches and blue-hued waters. Despite coming to the attention of the world after several scenes of Mamma Mia! (the Abba-inspired cinematic musical, staring Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Julie Walters and other Hollywood stars) were filmed here, Skopelos remains a humble, genuine and hospitable island where the simple pleasures of life reign supreme.
There are 2 ports on Skopelos Island, Skopelos Town and Glossa (Loutraki). There is also Agnonta port, used in bad weather conditions. Skopelos be easily reached by ferries or hydrofoils (fast boats) from either the neighbour islands (Skiathos, Alonissos or Skyros) or mainland Greece (Volos, Agios Konstantinos, Kymi and Mandoudi in Evia, Thessaloniki).
From Skiathos Island: There are departures from Skiathos Island to both Glossa (20 - 30 min. by hydrofoil) and Skopelos Town (45 min. by hydrofoil). There is international airport on Skiathos Island and Skiathos Airport to Skiathos Port is 5 min drive.
From Agios Konstantinos (Mainland Greece) - 60 nautical miles: There are ferries and Hydrofolis to both Glossa (2 hous & 15 min by hydrofoil or 4 hous & 15 min by ferry) and to Skopelos Town (3 hours by hydrofoil)
From Volos (Mainland Greece) - 60 nautical miles: To Glossa (1.5 to 2 hous by hydrofoil or nearly 4 hours by ferry). To Skopelos Town (2 hous or nearly 4 hours by hydrofoil and ferry respectively).
From Kymi (Evia) - 45 nautical miles: To Skopelos Town (3 hous by ferry).
From Mandoudi (Evia) - 25 nautical miles: To Glossa (1.5 hous by ferry).
From Thessaloniki (Mainland Greece) - 110 nautical miles: There are speed boats to Skopelos Town (4 hous).
It will take 20 minutes from Alonissos Island to Skopelos by hydrofoil and 6 hours from Skyros Island by ferry.
